The proposal :)

On Saturday, Feb 14th (Valentines day) Steve proposed to me! It was not only Valentines day but also our 1 year anniversary of dating exclusively. We had been talking about getting married for the past couple of months but hadn't 'decided' to get married until about a month ago. I told Steve that I didn't want t wait very long but that I wanted t be surprised! Well, after a little over a month I was getting frustrated because I really wanted to start planning a wedding but I didn't want to until I was engaged. Whenever I would bug Steve about it he would say 'it will happen eventually, maybe in 6 months or so...' I believed him! I didn't want to get my hopes up on on Valentines day so I convinced myself that he would not do it then. Throughout the entire night I convinced myself it was just a really romantic Valentines day plus one year anniversary date. I wish that I got pictures of the day part of the date but I did not. I wasn't even thinking about it. Saturday morning Steve called me and said not to get ready and that he was coming to pick me up at 10:00 am. He showed up and said that we had to hurry because the cops where coming! I thought he was just messing with me because that is not an uncommon occurrence. I will admit I'm gullible. As it turns out, he wasn't lying! He had gone to his office prior to picking me up and set off the alarm so he had to go explain to the police that it was him that set it off. Very funny. After that he surprised me by taking us to get a pedicure, yes you read right. He had an appointment at a nail salon and we both got foot massages and I got my toe nails painted it was so relaxing and so much fun to spend that time with him. After that he was in a hurry to drop me off and told me that he would be back to get me at 2:30 pm.

The second thing we did that day when he picked me up again was go miniature golfing at Golfland here in Arizona. It was such a nice day! It was sunny, warm and a perfect day to be outside. It was crowded when we went but that made it more exciting. We had fun talking to the people around us and watching the little kids in front of us hitting the golf ball around. In the end Steve beat me but he has years of experience regular golfing so he had a slight advantage. I was ahead the first 5 holes so at least he had to work a little bit to beat me! After the intense mini golfing Steve dropped me off at home again and said he would pick me up for dinner at 6:45 pm.

The dinner was by far the most incredib
le part of the evening! We went to Tia Rosa's, my absolute favorite restaurant in Mesa. When we arrived at the front where they seat you he said that he had reservations under Steve Murray and then they took us back to our table. We walked for awhile until we stepped outside and then through a gate into our own private little courtyard. It was decorated with lights and had music playing and there was a single table in the middle with flowers, a card and a candle over a white table cloth. It was amazing! I was so surprised! I had the waitress take pictures of us at the table so we could show people how beautiful it was. The pictures turned out a little blurry but you get the general idea.

We sat at the table for a while before Steve finally got up and asked who was supposed to be serving us. They had forgotten about us we where so far out there, it was still romantic though! We had a nice little heat lamp to keep us warm even though it was a nice night. After we were done eating Steve asked for the check and we left. As we where walking out the front door Steve was checking his pockets and said that he left his car keys at the table. I told him I would wait there while he went to get them and he said that I should just come with and help him look. So we walked back the ten miles to our table retracing our steps to see if he had dropped his keys anywhere along the way. We walked back through the gate into our private heaven and I saw a big red present sitting on our table!

I was very confused. I asked if it was for me and Steve said ya! I walked up to the table and started to open it when I realized it was extremely light weight so I lifted it up and a cute little white puppy crawled out from under it! I was in shock; I kept repeating over and over again "YOU GOT ME A PUPPY!!!" It felt very surreal. The puppy had a cute red ribbon tied around his neck and it was love at first sight. Steve said that we should go sit down on the bench and play with the puppy and I was totally happy to oblige.

After we sat down
I played with the puppy (who we have now named Weston) for about 20 minutes. Steve was starting to make comments like "pet the puppies belly," or "turn him over and pet him, he likes that!" So I did, and then I went back to the normal petting position because it was more comfortable. Finally the bow started to come untied so I went to tie it back into a cute little bow and I realized that there was something hard attached to it which before I had felt but thought it was a tag or something. I pulled it up and realized it was a diamond ring! Steve was all smiles and right after I found it I untied it from the bow and handed it to Steve because he had asked to borrow it for a minute. I was speechless, I seriously couldn't believe he was proposing! Even after such an elaborate day I was still so clueless and didn't want to get my hopes up about it so I had convinced myself it wasn't happening that night.

Steve got down on his knee with the ring and asked me to marry him and I was happy to say yes! That was by far the best night of my entire life. I am so grateful for the preparation and planning he put into the proposal. I will
never forget it!

So far we have done a little planning. We set a date, June 5th 2009. We have the reception venue booked at Wadley Farms in Lindon Utah, and we have temple reservations at the new Draper temple for 12:00 noon on the
5th. We are so excited and can't wait to have a lifetime of happiness together!

Dating...

Easter Dinner
Steve and I have been dating a little over a year now. We met at church when I traveled to Arizona to see if moving here would be something that I wanted to do. I didn't exactly remember meeting Steve at that time but he does!

The first time I remember meeting him was at my house for a little ga
me night that my roomate Ashley and I were putting on. I'd heard about him through Ashley because she had actually taken him to a football game earlier that week and had expressed interest in him. When I saw him at the party I thought he was very cute but I wasn't looking for anything. I had just moved to Mesa and I was interested in dating a lot of people; I also didn't want to cause any contention with Ashley. Little did I know that from the day that we had apparently met at church Steve was determined to date me. He says now that he KNEW we would date, very cute.

A week or two late
r he randomly showed up at
my house to "drop something off" and I was headed out on a date to the car show in Scottsdale. I thought he stopped by to see Ashely. A couple days later he stopped by again; I had just arrived home from visiting my family in Utah so I was in my room unpacking. He came over and I, again, thought he was there to see Ashley but Ashley had just left and he came into my room and started chatting with me. When I realized that nobody else was home I was confused and wondered why he was talking to me. I can be so clueless sometimes, ha ha. Eventually he asked me out on a date for that weekend and I said yes! I was excited to go out with him.

Before we went out I felt
obligated to speak with Ashley about it first so that there would be no hard feelings. I asked, and she was fine with it. Yay! Our first date was so much fun, we got along very well and after it, I was very excited to see him again. Since then it has been over a year and I feel like every month we have just gotten closer and closer. We have had some sad times; I think Steve was just so used to his guy friends that never took offense to anything and then the poor kid started dating me. I cry during almost ANY movie including The Incredibles, oh and Elf. You may ask "how did you cry during Elf?" Well, there was a very emotional scene at the end where they sing for Christmas spirit! Very touching!

We have been on a lot of fun trips, and done a lot of exciting things in the last year. We have a built up a strong and emotion filled love for each other. I love Steve very much and I
am so happy that we are getting married.

I know my last name isn't Murray yet but I wanted that web address!

I thought it would be nice to start a blog for Steve and I since we are getting married now! So exciting. It would be a good way to document our experiences and share them with family and friends. I guess a good way of starting would be to talk about our reationship thus far and the proposal.
